Description
Our client is a hugely popular computer components brand seeking a Validation Engineer to help develop network software and hardware that forms the company's line of networking connections. This project is aimed at testing these networking products primarily in open source Virtualization platforms such as KVM and Xen and solid knowledge about these operating systems is a must. Experience with VMware vSphere (ESX) and/or Microsoft Hyper-V is also desirable.
Testing will be performed in a lab and will mostly focus on software (networking drivers) validation through a combination of manual procedures and automated scripts. The main tasks consist of executing tests according to plan and recording all the results. The responsibilities also include development of new tests, ad-hoc validation, and defect characterization and verification. For procedures that are manual, new testing scripts will be developed and maintained along with existing automation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Seasoned Linux administration skills, versatility in console commands and Scripting (PERL, BASH, etc.)
- Solid TCP/IP and Layer 2 networking knowledge and understanding of VLAN
- Hands-on expertise in managing enterprise networks and configuring equipment (Switches, Routers)
- Experience with open source virtualization (KVM, Xen) installation, configuration, and virtual infrastructure administration
- Hands-on experience in building the open source Kernel
- Knowledge of network storage technologies (iSCSI, FCoE)
- Familiarity with validation processes and methodologies
- Enthusiasm and flexibility with a positive attitude and very inquisitive mindset
- Effective written communication skills (collegiate level)

- Experience with Linux Autotest or Windows PowerShell
