Our Midlands based client is looking to recruit a LV/HV Power Systems Design Engineer.

Summary of Job Purpose -

The role ensures power systems infrastructure is designed and planned to defined architectural standards and meets customer requirements. Responsible for the detailed engineering, technical design, planning and implementation of power systems technical infrastructure which underpin products and customer services.

Responsibilities, Activities & Key Deliverables -

Providing specialist technical support to Project Managers within Projects Directorate, CSD and Business Units.

Responsible for design ownership through proactively assisting with design and build issues as they arise.

Supervision of design implementation projects

Maintain and develop a high level of product and technical knowledge in specified areas as necessary to support the design and delivery functions.

Provide a Design Authority function to ensure Platform Designs are compliant to architectural, commercial and detailed design requirements.

Support the business units in capturing customer functional requirements, and the preparation of formal proposals/bid documentation for design and costing.

Review high level design proposals whilst promoting standardisation, best practice value engineering and customer delight through lowering total cost of ownership.
Required Qualifications/Skills -

A background in LV electrical power systems environment related role, either from an operational, project or design environment.

knowledge of typical components and infrastructure used for ELV, LV and HV Systems.

Background of Power System plant; generators, un-interruptible power supplies, control schemes, switchgear and HV systems.

Understanding of key design methodology phases, & including requirements definition, designer risk assessments, design reviews, & test plans, delivery, and handover.

A thorough understanding of electrical principals and the ability to apply theory to practice. An ability to undertake electrical test and commissioning measurements using test equipment.
