Stress Engineer

Contract rate £30 - 35ph

This is an exciting and fulfilling opportunity to work in a world-class organisation with like-minded professionals who contribute to the building of outstanding aircraft for the 21st Century. You will play a key role in the R & D activity on new programmes.

As a professional stress engineer with an Aerospace, Aeronautical or general engineering degree you will have considerable experience in the aerospace industry working on composite or metallic components or structures.

Possessing a good working knowledge, experience and application of classical stress engineering methods; it's highly desirable that you have had exposure to processes across the product life cycle from concept through to production.

This will include high levels of competency in areas such as: Buckling, open-hole analysis, actuation, finite element methodology, composites, cell theory, failure criteria, sensitivity and stress concentrations.

With in-depth knowledge of stress analysis techniques, and good knowledge of airworthiness requirements. You will demonstrate the capability of verifying the structural design philosophy by hand calculations and have good working knowledge of available bespoke software techniques, including

  • NASTRAN,
  • PATRAN
  • Hypermesh,
  • Hyperworks
  • MathCAD
  • Visual Basic.

Practically, you'll be familiar with and proficient in converting test outcomes into clear and concise summaries for senior engineers. Ideally you will have had experience with Airbus methods and processes. In wanting to make a valuable contribution to the quality, safety and integrity of the aircraft, it is important you enjoy working as part of a highly professional and dedicated team, in an organisation known for commitment to its people.

Essential:

  • Airbus methods understanding
  • Experience in Nastran and Patran
  • Ability to do hand calcs
  • Ability to create stress reports
  • Ability to extract load information from FEM's
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Conscientious
  • Pro active work ethic
  • Work in Bristol
  • Working on Composite or metallic components or structures.

This is a Contract role based in the Bristol with a pay rate between £30 - £35 ph. Permanent is also available.
