Resource Planner - Sunbury

My client a high profile Oil & Gas company based in Sunbury ar elooking for a Resource Planner to join their team.

Role Description:
In this role you will report directly to the Projects Resourcing Manager within Upstream.

This is a highly visible role in the Resourcing Team within Upstream IT&S, responsible for designing, agreeing, embedding and owning demand planning processes. You will need to meet with programme managers from the different upstream domains, discuss their programmes/projects resourcing needs and translate their requirements into demand plans and forecasts.

The role will also entail matching demand for project resources for various role types (eg PM, PMO, BA) with available internal supply as well as planning ahead to determine how future demand will be met. It will involve allocating internal resources to projects wherever current and forecasted utilisation allows and highlighting the cases where external resourcing will be necessary. This role will be responsible for determining the optimum number of third party resources of each role category required within Upstream to deliver the investment portfolio.

The role covers programmes/projects across the globe and is locatedin Sunbury.

Experience & Knowledge

Key Skills:
Build a strong working relationship with the Resourcing Manager.
Identify and establish strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers. You will need excellent stakeholder management skills and be organisationally aware with skills to impact, influence and build relationships.
Project gravitas and credibility in the way you work with the client so that in addition to demonstrating Logica's consistent high performance in delivery, you also inspire confidence within the client.
Have the high degree of judgement, tenacity, personal authority, resilience, flexibility and stamina needed to work in a pressured, high profile, often ambiguous and constantly changing environment, and used to coping with conflicting priorities.
Work with the Resourcing Manager and various internal clients to design and embed robust demand planning and forecasting processes.
Work with the Resourcing Manager and various internal clients to identify immediate and future demand and ensure that demand plans and forecasts are kept accurate.
Have a good understanding and knowledge of the skills and capabilities, types of roles and their associated rates.
Identify trends in demand for each skill set and track these, using assumptions to calculate trended demand and monthly forecast variation from an initial baseline.
Ensure that the demand plan/forecast specifies resource requirements to sufficient level (skills, seniority, experience, rate) enabling the client to source the right candidates.
Possess a frank and open communication style with the ability to say what people may not want to hear and constructively challenge others' views when appropriate.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage a number of priorities at the same time.
Ability to develop relationships and interact confidently at executive/senior management level, providing practical and pro-active resource management guidance and support.
Ability to see the bigger picture and link to day-to-day, BAU communications/activities.
Flexibility and a 'can do' attitude.
Projects will often be of a complex and technical nature and you will need to demonstrate knowledge of the business/sector and display an understanding of the issues being debated and agreed.
Qualifications, experience and achievements:
Proven communicator at all levels.
Demonstrable experience of designing and implementing resource demand planning processes and central resource forecasting mechanisms.
Experience in a resource planning role gained within an IT Projects environment where a gated investment decision framework is used.
End to end resource management experience.
Has collaboratively created and managed plans for large teams.
Has built and managed company-wide project reporting and dashboards, presenting information relating to resource planning in order to identify trends, shortfalls and variances in demand and supply.
Has successfully delivered cultural/business related change programmes.
