We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer for our client's Information Technology team at their Administrative (headquarters) office located in Seattle, WA. The QA Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing test strategies and/or test plans for a variety of custom and vendor applications. The QA Engineer will be designing, documenting, and executing manual and automated test cases and reporting on the results. The QA Engineer will also work with the Platform Operations group and Development group to establish appropriate test environments for various applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines QA tasks on various projects (working with the Project Manager, Business Analyst, and Developers) including scope of testing, test strategy, test plans and test cases and provide time estimates for testing activities
  • Teams with the Network Services team and Developers to create and test environments, setting standards for release of builds from Development into QA, as well as into Production
  • Works with Developers in order to effectively design and implement unit test development, integration test development, manual testing, and validation of web applications
  • Documents and executes manual black-box test cases
  • Develops and executes SQL scripts to load test data for functional verification and to support load and performance testing
  • Develops automated test cases (if automation is deemed feasible for the project)
  • Reports defects and process bugs using the company's defect tracking tools
  • Coordinates testing activities for a project (functional, regression, integration, performance), and executes test activities as needed (manual and automated testing)
  • Proactively communicates issues, risks, status, etc. to various teams and management
  • Works with other QA team members to develop a QA framework for the client, including the processes, deliverables, and other artifacts to be used throughout the Testing and Deployment phases

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or other quantitative discipline required
  • Minimum five years of hands-on Quality Assurance testing experience across all phases of the product life cycle
  • Experience in testing complex desktop/web applications using the following technologies required: C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript/JQuery, CSS, HTML, IIS, SQL Server, etc.
  • Experience using UI testing tools similar to WatiN or Quality Center
  • Experience in programming with the following languages SQL, C#, JavaScript to develop automated test scripts and/or create load tests and unit tests
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server
  • Experience writing SQL queries for developing and loading test data
  • Expertise in the implementation and management of test tools (automation) and defect tracking tools, writing test strategies, test plans and test cases
  • Ability to work in a self-driven, complex environment with multiple and changing priorities
  • Knowledge of documentation reviews and requirement analysis
  • Knowledge and experience of validation techniques, quality standards and metrics
  • Ability to adjust test strategy to mesh with waterfall and agile development models
  • Previous experience with ad-hoc testing abilities required
  • Strong technical background together with the ability to work closely and cooperatively with development staff
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
  • Experience working in an environment with strong project methodologies, frameworks and application knowledge with respect to the Tax, Accounting and Assurance areas preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Up to 5% travel possible
