Description
Our client is seeking to recruit an open source software developer to support prototype development for testing and demonstrating of challenging research concepts in the areas of long term digital preservation and cloud computing (SOA/IoS/SaaS architectures).
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- BSc/MSc/MEng/BTech in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related subjects.
- PhD in Computer Science or related subjects (or 3+ years relevant industrial experience is also considered).
- Recent experience in software engineering, object-oriented design and development with a good understanding of software engineering principles and UML based design
- Track record of open source development with a GNU/Unix background.
- Development/integration experience with OpenStack deployments and/or other open source virtualization (Xen, KVM) and storage manageability tools
- Experience working with large data sets in virtual environments.
The successful candidate would also possess the following:
- Familiarity with enterprise risk management (ERM) and Business continuity planning.
- Business intelligence/acumen. Understanding of business process workflows
- Architecture specification and development methods
