Our client is a Fortune 500 company that creates and provides cutting edge virtualized hardware, software and services for corporate infrastructure.
Currently this client has a great contract opportunity for a qualified Solutions Architect.
OVERVIEW:
Evaluate 5 mid-range SAN units (Clarion and VNX) in the US, and 2 in London, and verify that the architecture and disk layout is ideal for the client environment. Use Clariion/VNX assessment tools to determine existing layout and performance, and ensure they are in compliance with company best practices to ensure optimal performance and scalability to the environment. Help establish best practices for growth and load on all disk units. Use Best Practices on the growth increments for a specific frame especially for disk, SP/FA port, drive technology, Switch ports. Configure threshold alerting to ensure that performance demands can be processed much earlier. Assist in determining a best path for application and load profiling. Check to see if documentation or processes are in place for application/load profiling. If present, verify best practice usage for application/load profiling, if not create a doc/process for profiling these loads/application in to the right Tier/RAID or pool. Load profiling can be done using existing/historical data from a similar/existing server/application. Assist in troubleshooting complex performance issues. Use storage/switch/host tools to gather performance data and analyze potential bottlenecks. Identify processes and management tools to proactively measure and alert potential bottlenecks. Help in Identifying the appropriate monitoring metrics and capacity planning methods using built-in tools and the Solarwinds product. Use Solarwinds to capture key metrics with regards to monitoring pool thresholds, capacity of frames and drive/filesystem utilization on hosts and proactively requisition storage adds to the hosts and storage accordingly. Use standard trending based on historical information to get an idea of capacity trends, to better meet the business needs. Provide Best Practices Profile Applications on Virtual Machines (All Win/ESX). Use Best Practices for VMware settings, Datastores Sizes, HA, DRS settings for overall ESX environment. Best practices in no of VMs on the Datastores, also what VMs should go to which specific tier. Assist in evaluate the MDS SAN Fabric. Evaluate the existing State of the Fabrics, VSANs, modules, code levels, port groups, zoning, IVR, port descriptions, and identify any potential issues with the Switches, and come up with a remediation list. This contract position is expected to be 6 months in duration.
