Statutory half-year accountant
The team
You will be part of the London-based Technical Reporting and Group Reporting Teams. The Group Reporting Team is responsible for preparation and delivery of many of the numbers to populate the Bank's statutory half-year financial statements. The Technical Reporting team is responsible for preparing the all half-year accounts, including coordinating the other departments who contribute to, and review the documents, as well as the external auditors and legal advisors. The Technical Reporting Team is ultimately responsible for all statutory reporting. The Technical Reporting team also provides technical accounting advice and training to all businesses in the UK in respect of products, services and corporate transactions.
What you'll do
The Bank's half-year accounts are mainly prepared using data from the Group Reporting Team and the Technical Reporting Team, although some data is produced by other teams. You will be responsible for preparing some of the disclosures. When additional information is received, eg review comments or technical updates, you will check this and reflect this in the accounts.
Drafts are sent out to stakeholders and contributors, including the Board, Audit Committee, our parent, our external auditors and legal advisors.
You will maintain a good filing system both electronically and in paper, and keep good version control.
At other times you may be asked to assist with other team tasks.
What you'll need
Good financial accounting experience
Ability to organise work to strict deadlines
Self-starter
Attention to detail and persistence
A fully qualified accountant
Ability to be flexible in approach and working hours
Good practical exposure to IFRS statutory accounts.
Experience of financial services would be very useful although not essential.
