Responsibilities
Provide Project Management Leadership
Provide leadership and overall coordination for delivery of all OneLink Database activity and troubleshoot efforts.
Work with DBA to estimate labor and Scope of database project.
Build and maintaining project work plans to help team members remain focused on the most important tasks.
Produce and distribute project meeting notes and project status reports to keep sponsors, clients, IT management and team members up to date on progress and issues.
Analyze project risks and formulate risk-mitigation plans to improve predictability of project team to meet commitments.
Overseeing quality of project work to assure high quality solution deployment.
Manage solution vendor relationship to maintain rapport with vendors so that they will be most willing to support modifying their product to meet client's enterprise requirements.
Establish phased deliverables and phased released schedule for OneLink database changes.
Manage expectations with clients on deliverables and dates related to client requests.
Understand project dependencies; be able to recognize critical path issues that may impact the success and quality of project. Escalate critical path issues to management.
Represent Database Services in all OneLink project meetings
Perform change management activities using enterprise tools.
Evaluate, recommend and maintain database performance using tools to monitor, track and measure performance.
Design, develop, and implement complex physical databases across multiple platforms, technologies and computing environments.
Monitor the performance of databases and makes tuning changes. Oversee ongoing system capacity planning, forecasting, and tuning.
Perform research, prepare technical studies and make recommendations. Prepare business requirements reports, feasibility studies, and cost justification statements. Articulate information architecture to clients.
Consult with higher level resources to ensure consistency of recommendations with enterprise direction. Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most cost effective design solutions.
Work closely with technical and client management to ensure implementation of database management and support tools for complex business application development requirements and processes in accordance with latest enterprise direction (eg, diverse development platforms, technological environments, software, hardware and tools).
Consult with IT staff and clients to determine the impact of new or revised applications on information architecture. Consult with clients to determine information management requirements.
Technical Knowledge
Expert knowledge of Oracle 11g, 10g.
Expert knowledge of Oracle security.
Expert knowledge of UNIX - AIX, Solaris, Linux
Expert knowledge of with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Oracle Clusterware.
Expert knowledge of RMAN backups.
Experience using Database Vault, Audit Vault and ASO.
Experience using Grid Control monitoring tools.
Experience with SAN storage systems
Strong SQL skills. Ability to code packages and procedures.
Expertise in backup and recovery and fail-over methods and best practices.
Clear understanding of RDBMS fundamentals.
Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures, and ability to write specifications for applications to be developed in relation to security components.
Exceptional communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills.
Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow clear methodologies for troubleshooting and development.
Ability to support and work within standard software development life cycle practices.
Oracle PeopleSoft DBA Skills:
PeopleSoft Centric Technical Skills/Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of PeopleSoft architecture
Application Server configuration and monitoring background
Process scheduler configuration and monitoring background
PeopleSoft performance utilities and tracing options
PeopleSoft temporary tables use and performance aspects
PeopleSoft tablespace, table and index strategies
Knowledge of PeopleSoft metadata structure/objects
Understanding of PeopleSoft Messaging
PS Query experience writing and monitoring
PeopleSoft upgrades (database perspective)

Basic/Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. Associates degree is the minimum requirement.
10 years of experience with RDBMS is required with the last 6 years in Oracle
8 years experience in information technology and diverse technological environments, data and process analysis and modelling, logical database design, physical database design and implementation.
10 years experience with distributed database concepts and design
8 years experience with performance tuning and trouble-shooting skills
5 years experience with n-tier architecture, cluster and database connectivity issues in a Client Server environment
4 years experience in a lead role providing mentorship and the go-to person regarding any database design and/or performance tuning
4 years experience in database security administrator role
Preferred Qualifications
Strong database development and production support experience in a 24 x 7 Oracle environment.
Must have analytical ability, strong judgment, problem analysis techniques, in-depth knowledge of database administration, along with a broad knowledge of diverse data administration methodologies, database technologies, tools, and alternatives.
Must have good oral/written communication skills, and consulting skills.
