Chartered Building Surveyor required ASAP - Edinburgh - Long term contract

My public sector client has a requirement for an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to provide knowledge and expertise to manage a large property portfolio. Assisting the Head of Property and Facilities Management, this post will be instrumental in implementing Property Strategy in a major office relocation project.

The role will require the application of all Building Surveyor professional mandatory and core competencies (eg Building Pathology, Construction Technology, Contract Administration, Design and Specification, Inspection and legal/regulatory compliance), along with experience in Maintenance Management, Fire Safety and Works Progress/Quality Management.

The postholder will be responsible for the organisation and management of all planned and response maintenance, asset management and project/office refurbishment management (including supervisor duties).

Requirements:

*Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent qualification and post-graduate experience. Professional membership of the RICS ie Chartered Building Surveyor, or working towards Chartered Status of the RICS with equivalent post-graduate training and experience.

*Experience in Maintenance Management, Dilapidation's and Contract Administration. Strong working knowledge of building services and associated planned maintenance requirements. Experience in dilapidation negotiations.

*Experience in the management of leased premises, including the ability to accurately interpret lease conditions/legal documents and responsibilities.

*Experience of Legal/regulatory competency, including Management of Contractors, Asbestos Management, Fire Safety and a working knowledge of the clients requirements under the CDM Regulations.

*Experience in the procurement and contract management of services and supplies for office support services and the ability to work within budget restraints, forecasting and reporting on expenditure.

*Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan and organise own workload and ensure planned works take account of the operational impact and constraints.

*Good IT skills, including MS Office (word, excel, databases, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD.

Desirable - Experience in the role of Supervisor duties in relation to Public sector contracts. Experience in the management of project works in an occupied office environment within restrictive timescales and budgets. Experience in change management.
