GENERAL SUMMARY

Supports the global design, implementation and maintenance of high availability infrastructure for large multi-farm collaboration frameworks and systems to ensure reliability of business critical applications in the areas of collaboration, document and content management, enterprise search, and business workflow. Designs, implements and administers WebSphere, Weblogic, and J2EE hosting platforms. Deploys and supports applications and components on supported J2EE frameworks. Provides guidance and expertise to management on topics surrounding strategy and best practices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Listed in order of time-spent or importance)

1. Provides timely administration and support for multiple J2EE framework and data systems including WebSphere Application Server v6.1, 7.0, and 8.0, WebLogic WebSphere MQ, Apache, and IBM Integrated HTTP Server.
2. Design, implement, and maintain J2EE frameworks and data system connections.
3. Provides various services including addressing service tickets, providing after hours production support, performance tuning, triaging application, data, or network problems related to outage of applications and the patching/upgrading of supported hosting environments and systems.
4. Builds relationships with local, third-party solution providers to stay current on the latest J2EE technology best practices
5. Evaluates third-party administration and development tools by working closely with vendors
6. Provides technical research, consultation and support services to teams of RGA developers in various areas.
7. Identifies administration project tasks and dimensions time and human resources to complete tasks. Sizes total cost of ownership for framework and data system rollouts by identifying long-term corporate commitments.
8. Develops and documents processes, procedures and best practices.
9. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-8 years of experience supporting application development/hosting systems and services utilizing J2EE technologies: specifically, WebSphere and WebLogic
    Preferred:
  • 5+ years experience in programming/systems analysis

    Skills and Abilities

    Required:

  • Intermediate skill in the administration of IBM WebSphere, Oracle WebLogic, Tomcat, Apache, environments and systems.
  • Intermediate skills in J2EE framework tasks including installation, patching, monitoring, and tuning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of application/data security best practices
  • Working knowledge of HTTP server administration
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
  • Advanced investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
