Description

Holiday Autos is the world’s largest and leading leisure car hire broker. Leading the way in the travel industry since 1987, Holiday Autos is one of the most renowned names in the business thanks to our commitment to providing high quality, low cost car rental solutions to customers right across the globe and 2012 is lining up to be our best year yet. Here at Holiday Autos we might have a string of international awards under our belt but we think that there’s always room for improvement – that’s why we’re looking to add the biggest and best digital talent to our brand this year.

We’re on the hunt for a Front End Web Developer to take responsibility for the maintenance of our international Holiday Autos sites. For this role we’re looking for someone that’s flexible – the right candidate will be able to work varying hours and will be able to quickly adapt in an exciting, ever-changing environment.

Based in our Woking office, our new Front End Web Developer will not only maintain the sites mentioned above, but will also be responsible for all white-label variants in collaboration with the local Sales, Marketing and Customer Services teams so fluency in English and French is essential!  The right candidate will also be responsible for building pages and on-site functionality using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, directing, designing and stimulating web development based on approved web requests and providing first-line OTA XML API support as necessary.

Our new developer will also be responsible for conducting trouble-shooting in collaboration with our Global Web Planning & Development team and supporting the integration of the Adobe CQ5 Content Management System to achieve separation of content from code. Other weekly duties will include playing a lead role in all release efforts and projects supported by the back end development team, working with local vendors to implement SEO changes and ensuring testing takes place in the QA environment.

So what are we looking for? First and foremost we need someone that has a minimum of 5 years experience in hand coding HTML and CSS, someone that knows JavaScript like the back of their hand and someone that has experience working with a source control repository e.g. SVN. We also want someone that’s familiar with OTA XML format API and someone that’s a superstar when it comes to usability and web customer experience. Ideally we’d also like someone that’s educated to degree-level or has equivalent work experience.

It goes without saying that the right candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent written and communication skills and strong analytical skills – what we’re really looking for is someone that’s passionate about all things ‘web’, someone that can think ‘outside of the box’ and someone that gets excited at the thought of taking on a challenge – if you don’t relish the thought of solving a problem then this is not the right role for you!

To really stand out, the right candidate would also have a good knowledge of Java, have experience in the travel industry and be familiar with tools like Omniture Site Catalyst and Google Analytics.

Think you have what we’re looking for? Then we’d love to hear from you.
