Storage Services Consultant

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Designs and implement storage solutions tailored to specific client deliverables, including performance targets, multi-site replication, and targeted capacity management and reporting tools.
  • Responsible for defining, tracking, and maintaining data resources in the production IT environment
  • Ensures the availability, reliability, scalability, and manageability of the data storage environment
  • Works with key technical and business stakeholders to determine data and storage requirements and creates solutions to meet requirements
  • Maintains storage area network (SAN) environment and/or network attached storage (NAS) environments. Typically, the Consultant investigates complex storage issues and provides resolution on complex issues following standard incident, change request and problem management processes
  • Documents storage infrastructure inventory
  • Gathers requirements, designs, and implements solutions to meet customers' needs. Demonstrates knowledge of Fiber Channel, FCIP, or iSCSI concepts and technologies
  • Validates technical solution architecture and provides implementation time estimates and cost estimates versus performance trade-offs
  • Analyzes both hardware and software products for evaluation and proof of concept
  • Writes technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Develops standard operating processes for storage support
  • Provides mentoring and leadership to less experienced team members and provides management support during customer quote and bid cycles

Qualifications
Required Skills:

  • This position requires 10+ years of technical support and administration in a mixture of EMC, NetApp, HDS, IBM, Brocade, and Cisco storage environments
  • Experience should include an understanding across the products
  • Experience delivering high customer satisfaction in a large, dynamic, and demanding customer environment is essential

Desired Skills:

  • Candidates should have very good communications skills, be self-driven, excel in a team environment, possess a strong sense of urgency and accountability, and have a passion for excellence

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • BS in Management Information Systems of equivalent work experience

Minimum Certifications or Other Professional Credentials:

  • Minimum Certifications or Professional Credentials ITIL V3 certification
  • One or more vendor certification levels within the SME curriculum
