DUTIES:
The Senior Technical Specialist reports to the Manager, Technical Services in the Information Technology Section. We presently have a mixed environment, running Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, IIS, WTS/Citrix applications.

The Senior Technical Specialist is responsible for:

  • Design, Implement and Support VPD Voice Solutions
  • Cisco Communications Manager
  • Cisco Unity Connection
  • Faxing
  • Cisco Meeting Place
  • Call Recording and CDR Record Management
  • IVR and other solutions
  • Liaise with internal and external technical personnel and with hardware and software vendors
  • Backup Design, Implementation and Support for VPD Network Infrastructure
  • Campus fiber network using VRF-lite
  • DMPVPN branch office solutions
  • QoS and other optimization policies
  • ACLs and other traffic control
  • Backup Design, Implementation and Support VPD Security Infrastructure
  • Network Access Control
  • Checkpoint and Cisco Firewalls
  • IPS solutions
  • ACLs, data encryption, Anti-Virus
  • Preparation and maintenance of technical documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary education in a computer/telecom-related technology
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Voice technology support
  • 2+ more years experience supporting Voice Over IP software
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Linux and Virtualized Server platforms
  • Understanding of data networking protocols, services, software and hardware
  • Knowledge of Skinny, SIP, H323
  • Working knowledge of QOS policies
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively (oral and written)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, and ability to learn new tasks
  • Strong Customer Service delivery attitude
  • Familiarity with ITIL standards and policies as it relates to Change, Incident, Problem and Release Management
  • Proven ability to organize work, exercise judgment, use initiative and perform duties in an independent and confidential manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work co-operatively in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to interact with others tactfully and effectively in person, by telephone, or in correspondence
  • The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a valid security clearance

ADDITIONAL ASSETS:

  • Cisco Certifications
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
