If you are excited by the prospect of travelling the globe to work with various clients then this could be the role for you.
  
Working for a high profile telecommunications software organisation your focus will be to meet and interface with clients to define, document and maintain the product infrastructure environment, including tools and standards for installation, configuration, tuning and maintenance of the product.
  
Responsibilities:
  • Define and maintain the product infrastructure roadmap
  • Document and communicate the infrastructure roadmap including:
    a) Hardware architecture supported by the product;
    b) Third party software (operating systems, application Servers, Oracle, Java runtime environments, tools, web browsers, etc) and versions;
    c) Document and communicate an infrastructure end of life schedule.
    d) Document and communicate options such as high availability as required
  • Establish standards and procedures for installation, configuration and tuning of the product applications
  • Establish standards and procedures for virtual machines
  • Select and manage the implementation of tools for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the product
  • Manage the generation of maintenance documentation
  • Support infrastructure technical advice to project teams
  • Train the Services Team on deployment of the technology stack
  • Communicate and actively work with other parties to ensure successful project outcomes.
Required skills:  
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computing Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related
  • Commercial infrastructure experience with a software product deployed in a large organisation
  • Have 5 years or more commercial experience in the software industry
  • Excellent knowledge of Intel, SUN and HP hardware
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux, Solaris or HP UX operating systems
  • JBOSS Application Server and TOMCAT experience
  • Database Administration credentials in Oracle 10G and preferably 11x. Awareness of the features and differences in different Oracle versions
  • Web based technology infrastructure environment experience
  • Scalability and high availability experience across the user interface, application and database layers
  • Load balancing technology experience.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience with GWT/GXT, Spring, ExtJS and JavaScript as web based development technologies
  • Java EE experience in EJB, Servlets, JSP, web services and Hibernate
  • Microsoft Windows setup and administration experience
  • Load and performance testing experience
  • Strong knowledge in PL/SQL and Unix Shell Scripting
  • Knowledge of software configuration management systems and/or source code version control systems
  • Experience deploying JAVA WAR and EAR files on application Servers
  • UNIX system administration experience
  • Platform setup and monitoring experience
  • Operational Support Systems and Network Management Systems experience
  • Experience using the Agile software development methodology
  • Exposure to large projects and in foreign countries
  • Strong customer focus
