Description
Due to continued expansion and ongoing project requirements my client, a leading national Telco carrier, are currently recruiting for a design engineer to join their project team. The primary purpose of the Design Engineer role is to provide End to End designs for the Iub and Abis interfaces for the mobile network. The role is to consider all elements in the path of the Iub and Abis interfaces in the mobile network. Understanding of RNC boundaries and load balancing is required to perform this role.
This role is responsible for providing both physical and logical designs, utilizing the capacity provided by the capacity management team.
The position will report to the Solutions Architects.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for:
- Physical and logical circuit design
- Circuit Layout Records (CLR's)
- Maintenance of network database tool
- Jumpering and site detail instructions
- All other duties as directed by the Transmission Engineering Manager.
Key Tasks
- Ensure designs are provided in as timely manner so as to facilitate integrations.
- Work in conjunction with Capacity Management team to establish data integrity
- Progress monitoring of implementations to provide "as built" feedback.
- Ensure the integrity of intellectual property around its transmission network
- Seek improvements to implementation processes by capturing lessons learnt during implementations
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peer groups, key internal stakeholders and partners
- Work in accordance with policies, processes and procedures
Technical Skills
- Technical Skills Required:
- 5 years experience in the Telecommunications industry.
- Good understanding of RAN & Transmission Networks architecture and environments
- Experience in mobile network deployment
- Technically capability to identify and implement steps to mitigate project risks reducing VHA exposure to project delays/additional costs/service impacts.
- Working knowledge of the products and services supported by Microwave, DWDM, SDH/PDH, optical transmission systems and Routers
Skills Required
- Tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering and/or demonstrated work experience in the telecommunications industry
- Technically proficient with Huawei, Ericsson and NSN mobile networks from RNC or BSC to Node B and BTS, through transmission network including CX-600 PTN, OMS, DXX, microwave
- Technically proficient with the deployment of Network technologies.
- Experience in telecommunications network design with emphasis on SDH and IP transmission and xWDM, standards and equipment
- Experience in Fibre networks and Microwave radio transmission systems
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and work with limited supervision
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
