Description
For this position with a world-renowned computer manufacturing company, you will be performing a wide variety of server support activities in a large-scale, high-performance computing environment.
OVERVIEW:
- Primary support in a Lab environment, focus will be Linux OS and hardware break-fix
- Secondary support for Data Center environment, focus will be on Windows Client and Server support
- Netbatch implementation and support
- Daily problem resolution on all OS's and hardware configurations
- Troubleshoot and isolate lab network issues for escalation as needed
- Support of current non-standard storage solution setup and maintenance
REQUIREMENTS:
- Solid working knowledge of Linux OS's (Ubuntu, RedHat, SLES, Fedora, Debian, etc.)
- Experience and skills to provide installation, configuration, troubleshooting, security and patching, installing apps on standard and non-standard hardware and OS configurations
- General knowledge of how networks operate and basic troubleshooting of network issues
- Understanding of DNS, DHCP, NIS, Active Directory, other
- Strong hardware skills both client and server
- Knowledge and understanding of "storage", such as Filers, NAS, SAN
- Working knowledge of User and Account management (Windows and Linux)
- Understanding of IIS and web services
- Working knowledge of virtualization, eg VMware, EXSi or ESX, etc.
- MSS and security compliance for all OS's
- Strong customer engagement skills
- Ability to provide sustainable support in and unsupervised environment
This contract position is expected to be 12 months in duration.
