WebSphere MQ Administrator - Hampshire - 6 months - £480 per day

A vacancy has become available within the Technical Support team to provide support and administration for MQ solutions employed within my clients distributed applications and systems, ensuring that the management capability for these systems is maintained and supported with the highest level of quality and availability, ensuring Service Level targets can be met. This role also provides 2nd/3rd level 24x7 support and maintenance for the Software and includes out of hours support.

Key Skills and Experience
  • Commercial IT exposure in a large systems (150+) Server environment
  • Significant working knowledge with the following WebSphere skills is required for the role:
    • WebSphere MQ (WMQ) v7.1.x
    • HACMP, MQ Cluster, MQ API
    • Installation, patching, configuring, problem determination
    • Should be familiar with SSL protocol, key exchange (public and private), digital signatures, cryptographic algorithms, and certificate authorities
    • ISA, AST, working with IBM on PMRs etc
    • Managing the firmware image and be able to apply firmware images, and rollback back an upgrade

The following experience would be beneficial:

    • DataPower XI50 appliance 3.8.0
    • Be familiar with XML, XML Stylesheet Language Transformation (XSLT), XPath, and XML Schema Definition (XSD) SOAP and Web Services.
    • Manage configuration and maintenance of DataPower appliance
    • Knowledge of SiteMinder and LDAP
    • ITCAM for SOA
    • HTTP/HTTPS, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

  • Basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, host file, Virtual Hosts and HTTP traffic)
  • Practical experience of other Middleware technologies
  • UNIX administration skills on AIX, Solaris would be advantageous
  • Problem diagnosis and resolutions skills in a business critical 24 x 7 Service Support environment are essential
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite
  • Familiarisation with ITIL principles and preferably ISEB accredited
  • Experience of problem and change control management processes including use of applications such as Remedy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Independent problem solving skills, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self motivated, able to work on own initiative
  • Flexible, dedicated team worker with the ability to work in isolation as required
  • Extended knowledge with UNIX programming.
