Description

Our client is a hugely popular computer hardware brand seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer for an excellent contract opportunity.

The project is to provide thermal tool designs for temperature margining of processors, chipsets, and ASICs used in the validation of silicon. The project entails designing mechanical and retention aspects of the temperature margining tools, providing detailed drawings of the mechanical designs for prototyping and manufacturing. The end result of the design will be manufactured and deployed to the client's validation labs.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Designing mechanical components/systems for CPU, PCH, ASIC cooling solutions
  • Designing mechanical retention mechanisms for heat sink, temperature margining tool assembly, chassis, etc.
  • Creating detailed mechanical models within 3D CAD software
  • Performing structural analysis of the mechanical designs
  • Creating detailed mechanical drawings of heat sinks, retention mechanisms, temperature margining tool assemblies, printed circuit boards, for prototyping and manufacturing
  • Validating the mechanical designs with mechanical fit check
  • Converting ECAD models to MCAD models
  • Presenting and communicating the concept design and results to the lead engineers
  • Creating documentations for assembly instruction

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Degree or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Thermal/Fluid Sciences with a minimum of 5 years working experience in Mechanical design, preferably in computer thermal engineering industry/telecommunication devices
  • Pro/E competency with experience of Pro/E Wildfire 4.0/5.0
  • Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis using Abaqus or Ansys
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design of PCBs, electronics air cooling and liquid cooling systems, as well as the heat sink retention mechanisms
  • Experience with sheetmetal, CNC machining, extrusion, and lathing manufacturing processes
  • Strong practical knowledge of mechanical systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience and knowledge of Pro/E modules (Pro/Sheetmetal, Pro/Cabling, Pro/Mechanica, etc.) preferred
  • Proficiency in Allegro a plus
