Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is a blue chip technology company producing high quality consumer products and developing specialist equipment for industrial applications. We are seeking a high calibre, commercially astute, Mechanical Design Engineer to join the existing engineering team supporting the conceptual design of new products.
Working as part of a dedicated development team you will be directly involved in all levels of the product development life cycle driving commercial and quality directives and working closely with suppliers and the end client.
Responsibilities will include the following:
- To work with other members of the product development team to translate product requirements into workable engineering >designs
- Design and development of high precision mechanical systems including layout and industrial design through to detailed design and evaluation.
- To support and trouble-shoot the introduction of new products into manufacturing.
- Effective management of internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Risk analysis and FMEA
Exposure to the following areas is required:
- Design for ManufacturE
- Knowledge of optical systems, sensory, inspection equipment or similar
- Proven background within an R&D led/high technology company
- Mechanical CAD systems (Solidworks and 2D AutoCAD).
- Experience of a recognised Quality systems ie ISO .
We are looking for a strong academic background (Min Degree) supported by proven commercial exposure to designing specialist equipment for the high technology sectors.
