We are currently seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer within Routing and switching to join a excting contract opportunity. You will be responsible for Tier II to Tier III proactive monitoring/execution, maintenance and changes of internal and customer facing network (routing, switching, and optical) infrastructure and application (Firewall and load balancer) devices.

Responsibilities: This includes troubleshooting website and network connectivity issues to resolution and completely and accurately documenting all work activity in the CRM system. Engineer will work directly with other internal engineering departments and data center personnel to ensure that all customer expectations are being met at the highest possible level.

Work with various internal groups and customers to troubleshoot issues, provide resolution(s) and implement solutions. Provide accurate root cause analysis. Day to day administration of load balancer, Firewall, switch and optical solutions. IPSEC VPN setup, maintenance and troubleshooting on Routers and Firewalls. Open trouble tickets with various networking vendors. Available outside of shift hours to answer questions related to work performed during their shifts. Responsible for and accountable to follow support procedures and escalation guidelines. Adhering to the escalation timelines for severity A, B, C and D issues. Work with vendors to identify root cause. Occasionally participate in customer kickoff calls with Implementation PM. Work directly with customers to validate, confirm and assess network connectivity requirements. Take escalation calls from Network Support for layer2, layer3, and optical issues. Available outside of shift hours to answer questions related to work performed by the individual.

REQUIREMENTS. 5+ years of network experience with Cisco Routers and Switches. Switching and experience with VMware. Expert level understanding and experience with routing and switching technologies. Expert level understanding and experience with 802.1q, STP, RSTP, MSTP, VLAN, MPLS. Expert level knowledge of Firewall management, preferably with Cisco PIX/ASA Firewalls and/or Citrix NetScaler Load Balancers. Expert level knowledge of optical platforms and protocols. Perform circuit migrations into the optical platform. Excellent problem solving skills. Strong understanding of troubleshooting techniques. Exhibits mature organization and time management skills. Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills. Some knowledge and exposure to Firewall and (or) load balancer technologies.

PREFERRED
* Experience with routing protocols, specifically BGP, OSPF and EIGRP. Experience with Cisco's Private VLAN technology
* Experience with Cisco's ASA firewalls
* Experience and/or knowledge with Optical Platforms and protocols
