Our client, a major Federal Government Department, is seeking Senior Technical Security Specialist joins them to work on:

  • Liaise with, and on behalf of, ICT project and technical engineering teams within IMD and advise on the security requirements for initial and detailed ICT designs.
  • Provide a high level of technical, specialist and expert advice in relation the network/data communications and applications -specifically:
    1. ICT Security Risk Management,
    2. ICT Security Governance,
    3. ICT Accreditation and certification, and
    4. ICT security auditing and analysis.
  • Represent and report on security related activities to management as required.
  • Participate as a subject matter expert in the development of Systems Security Design Documents (SSDD) and other security related documentation.
  • Provide support to the test and release teams, as required, with regard to security compliance testing of new project products.
  • Research ICT security vulnerabilities as they affect the department's ICT environments and assigned project technical designs and solutions.
  • Facilitate meetings between external entities and agencies, as required, to ensure security advice is in line with current industry trends and other agency approaches.
  • Assist the Operational Security Section, the IT Security Advisor (ITSA) and the Program Management Office (PMO) in the continued development of the Departmental security assessment and governance framework

To be considered for the position you will have:

  • Demonstrate a very detailed knowledge and understanding of whole-of-government and Departmental ICT security requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated application of government policy including the Protective Security Manual (PSM), Information Security Manual (ISM), IT industry standards and other relevant guidelines and instructions.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and writing technical security related documentation.
  • The ability to liaise with subject matter experts and provide constructive and objective security advice.
  • A good understanding of ICT systems and engineering principles, including networking and voice systems.
  • Good understanding of Electronic Document Management Systems (TRIM) and of Microsoft Office, including Visio.
