Description:
The team is responsible for Monitoring and Managing the Mainframe System and Batch environment.
The mission includes:
- Monitoring of Mainframe consoles for alerts, warnings, and errors and resolving common MF system issues in a timely, consistent manner
- Reply to Console messages
- IPL of Mainframe as and when required
- Escalating issues to Mainframe System team members and third party groups as appropriate
- Monitoring of Mainframe System performance
- Verifying successful and complete execution of batch jobs and backup job
- Candidate should be self-motivated, a good team player, possess good communications skills, and be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Be able to work in an environment that is global and 24x7, and be able to pass and receive work for global peers in different time zones

- Effective communication skills in both verbal and written English
- Ability to routinely liaise with a Europe based work group
- Ability to adhere to strict quality and change management process
- Nice to have
- Self starter, strong work rate - prepared to take ownership of incidents
In-depth Knowledge
- Must have
- z/OS system command knowledge and console operation in a sysplex environment to include system IPL and system shutdown
- JES2 command knowledge
- Mainframe performance monitoring
- Mainframe batch scheduler (any) to include batch monitoring, abend resolution, JCL modification, schedule modification
- Job Control Language (JCL)
- Distributed batch scheduler (any) to include batch monitoring and abend resolution
- Monitor distributed platforms utilizing standard monitoring tool
Support Capabilities
- Must have
- Document all production incidents through problem management tool
- Communicate production cycle delays to appropriate group
- Escalate failed automated callouts to appropriate group or to management staff
- Experienced 1st line support skills
- Ability to think logically through a problem, with an in-depth knowledge of what logs to check and what H/W and S/W component elimination tests to perform
- Ability to understand batch production cycle (job flows) and to focus on critical path
- Ability to collaborate with other support teams to troubleshoot complex incidents
Experience:
- 2-7 years of experience in Mainframe Console and Batch Operation
- Technical certification and technology specific study
