*Work on the leading edge of GAMES technology.* Our client is developing new improvements to the capabilities and accuracy of their motion sensing games accessory, the world's fastest selling consumer electronics device!

As part of this development, the client requires training and testing data captured from real users performing a number of scripted and free-form movements. This is a contract offering for a Usability Assistant that would manage collecting this data according to the specific needs of the team.

The games platform team is in need of a Motion Capture Lab Moderator to prepare and facilitate daily recording sessions that collect data from human subjects. A strong understanding of human subject research and strong customer relations skills are essential to this position. Knowledge of video games is highly desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and schedule participants to be captured in the motion capture lab
  • Prepare, distribute, and collect printed forms and other materials used by motion capture lab participants including legal documents
  • Prepare lab equipment, including computers and motion capture equipment
  • Meet groups of participants, and escort them into and out of the lab
  • Facilitate motion capture sessions, which involve:
    • Providing explicit directions to the participants
    • Interacting appropriately with participants and ensuring they follow the directed tasks
    • Solving technical and research problems on the fly with little or no direction
    • Performing data entry about details of the recording sessions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong working knowledge of human subjects research
  • Strong working knowledge of spreadsheet, e-mail, and word processing software
  • Must have the ability to work with confidential information
  • Strong customer relations skills
  • Effective communications skills
  • Ability to work productively without direct supervision
  • Ability to change direction in response to changing work situations
  • Friendly an professional demeanor, especially with participants
  • Ability to optimize processes to improve the quality and quantity of data collected

PREFERRED:

  • Passion for video games
  • Large enterprise software experience
  • Experience working in a psychology research lab
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting computer and video game hardware
  • Previous experience collecting data for user research studies in a mobile, off-campus manner highly desired

This contract position is expected to be 12 months in duration. The motion capture hardware with which the moderator will be working produces an electromagnetic field that may affect pacemakers. Candidates that use pacemakers are advised to consult a physician before applying for this position.
