Position Title: IT Project Manager

Duration: Contract-6 months

Location: Montgomery, AL 36116

Our client is seeking an IT Project Manager for 6 month, contract to permanent position in Montgomery, AL. The Project Manager position is responsible for integrating technology planning within the business planning process. The IT. Project Manager is a leadership position within the corporation and participates proactively with the corporation, business lines, functional units and small business units in the development and implementation of strategic plans for business initiatives.

IT Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Support 1 to 3 strategic projects per year and 2 to 3 additional major projects; support 4 or more departments/business units
  • Provide leadership and manage all project activities from planning through implementation.
  • Responsible for creating an overall project plan, work with the business sponsor and required IT units to identify and secure resources, provide oversight and guidance to the project team to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects.
  • Participate proactively with executive management across the corporation, and provide direction to the organization in the development of strategic plans for growth initiatives.
  • Maintain written project plan requirements, milestones, and documentation to accurately monitor and communicate status to project stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor selection, vendor relations, vendor contracts, and vendor resources, timelines, and deliverables, as well as, coordinate with in-house IT and Business managers and resources assigned to the project teams.
  • Assist the Business Analyst and project team with developing project or application requirements.
  • Serve as coach and supervisor for a wide range of IT resources assigned to the project. Duties range from coordinating and overseeing work assignments, to providing input to support evaluations.
  • May represent IT as part of a project's Executive Steering Committee.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in project management, including at least six years in IT with a proven track record of successful projects.
  • PMP preferred
  • Strong SDLC background
  • Strong demonstrated in-depth knowledge of IT project management best practices.
  • Ability to sell concepts and ideas to, and discuss sensitive and topical issues with, all levels of management.
  • Strong professional and interpersonal skills including the ability to lead business-critical projects.
