FATCA is a US tax law designed to prevent US taxpayers from avoiding US tax on their income by investing in the US through non-US financial institutions and offshore investment vehicles.Given the time it takes to understand the impact of legislative changes and to implement the associated technology changes, requires commencement of immediate planning for the FATCA legislation.Your role will include the following responsibilities:  

  • Customer Identification Processes: building processes to record the citizenship for new and existing customers
  • Documentation: building the changes in customer application processes and other documentation
  • Withholding: building functionality for withholding on recalcitrant account holders
  • Reporting: building and sustaining an annual reporting model for all US individuals to cover account balances and gross payments
  • Co-ordination of technology and architecture to deliver a high level solution
  • Co-ordination with asset teams to provide inputs into planning such as estimates of effort, required deliverables and creation of the technology components of the project schedule
  • Assist with facilitating workshops to agree on technology solutions to the business requirements
  • Identification of technology issues and risks
  • Manage the project from requirements, design, build, test to implementation, warranty and closure
  • Develop the program implementation strategy and plan
  • Manage the vendors, resources, the schedule, all issues and risks

You should have the following skills and experience:

  • Understanding of US Tax legislation, compliance, AML
  • Understanding of Wealth Products and systems
  • Strong project management experience within Financial Services & Tax 
  • Ability to define program roadmaps
  • Tax Reporting, understanding of databases and data extracts
  • Experience with delivering large projects from start to finish ($10-15m) that cover delivery of technology components and legislative changes
  • Experience working on Compliance/Regulatory projects
  • Delivery focussed - Problem solver who looks for and presents options/solutions and ways to work around problems
  • Drives for decisions and closes out issues quickly
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including escalations to senior management as appropriate
  • Ability to lead teams, and ability to work collaboratively in teams
  • Self starter, requires minimal direction
