Description
This company is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Level Systems Engineer. Candidates must have experience in designing, implementing, administering and supporting distributed systems for our growing Integrate IT practice. The ideal candidate will have a solid MS Exchange ) and VMware skill set. Microsoft (MCSE) and VMware (VCP) certifications are strongly desired.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implementation projects as it relates to Microsoft and VMware technologies
- Assist with Microsoft Exchange migrations and upgrades
- Assist with VMware implementations
- Respond to post project technical support calls that are escalated from Level 1 NOC center
- Install, upgrade, remove server and/or desktop applications
- Install, upgrade, repair, replace user workstations (hardware and software)
- Inventory control of hardware and peripherals
Required Skills:
- 5 + years of relevant, hands-on experience supporting Windows based Information Systems
- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience working with MS Windows Server, Exchange environments is required.
- Current Windows certification (MCSE, VCP)
- Expertise with MS Exchange administration and the use of prevailing virtualization technologies is required.
- In depth understanding of supporting technologies: IIS, WINS/DHCP/DNS, Anti-Virus, Systems Management, Optimization Tuning, High Availability configurations (Microsoft Clustering, etc.)
- Hands-on, in-depth expertise with Microsoft Windows Architecture - SQL Server, Active Directory (AD) and Exchange.
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, DNS, WINS, and DHCP.
- Expert knowledge of the Remote Installation Services and Group Policy.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server administration (migrations, clustering a plus).
- Experience with any of the following VMware products: VMware Infrastructure 3.5 (VMware ESX Server, VirtualCenter and VMotion), ESX Express, Capacity Planner, P2V Assistant, VMware Converter, Site Recovery Manager (SRM), VDI, VMware IT Service Automation products (Lab Manager, Stage Manager, Lifecycle Manager) and other VMware products.
- Experience with creating and deploying standard desktop images.
- Experience with documentation for system builds, configurations, support procedures
- Experience with diverse hardware platforms (Dell, IBM, HP, Blades).
Desired Skills:
- A Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline is desired.
- Hands-on experience with VMware ESX, VDI, SRM, is preferred.
- Systems deployment, server migration, MS Exchange upgrade, systems integration, server consolidation, and virtualization project experience is a plus.
- Any experience with Clustering Services/High availability systems is a plus.
- Any experience with SAN based storage systems specifically Dell/EqualLogic and iSCSI networking is desired.
- Knowledge of EMC disk subsystems, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, CIFS and NFS protocols is desired.
- Some hands-on SharePoint experience or other related technologies is desired.
- Experience with thin-client technologies, Terminal Services, Citrix Metaframe is a plus.
