Description

We require a SAN Engineer for a Contract opportunity. You will plan, design, and analyze storage infrastructure, while ensuring high levels of data quality and availability. You are also responsible for capacity planning, backup and restore process design, performance analysis, and developing data disaster recovery plans. You will develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent storage provisioning and uptime.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of long-term strategic goals for storage Servers and databases across the organization in conjunction with company objectives
  • Develop storage architectures based on capacity planning analysis and other needs assessments
  • Allocate storage to business units across the enterprise based on established requirements, available disk space, and future growth
  • Oversee the development of procedures for backups and restores, as well as monitor the performance, success, or failure of these tasks
  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures for storage change management, availability management, backup management, and incident management
  • Recommend, install, and configure new and existing storage devices and corresponding software
  • Analyze storage equipment performance, collect information, and prepare summary reports
  • Develop, implement, and maintain testing process for current, new, and modified storage appliances and software
  • Respond to and resolve storage access problems, retrieval issues, storage device status, and other issues
  • Define, communicate, and enforce data storage retention policies and create routines for end-users to facilitate storage best practices, including desktop storage administration
  • Define and adhere to service level agreements with end-users regarding storage allocations, limitations, and availability
  • Ensure that information storage and retention measures and equipment adhere to all applicable laws and regulations
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to other members of the team

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, SCSI, and Fibre Channel technologies
  • In-depth understanding of storage architecture design techniques, theories, principles, and practices
  • Solid experience with developing backup and restore procedures
  • Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting storage Servers and software
  • Experience working with clustered systems required
  • Hands-on storage management and troubleshooting experience
  • Solid skills in Unix and Windows operating systems
  • Knowledge of applicable data retention practices and laws
  • Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Detailed knowledge of EMC VMAX, DMX, Clariion, and Connectrix SAN solutions
  • Knowledge of Cisco, McData Switches and EMC tools, including ECC, FLR, Navisphere, Recover Point and Timefinder
  • Ability to leverage BCV and SNAP strategies and work with IBM Mainframe, Unix, and Windows OS administrators
  • Understanding of SRDF and iSCSI technologies
  • Familiarity with MS Office tools, including Visio. Knowledge of IBM 3494 Tape Library and Veritas Netbackup are pluses
  • Day to day management all Storage related support activities for HFHS
  • Responsible for storage architectural layout, design, provisioning
  • Engage in the support of back and DR environment, especially from the perspective of using RecoverPoint Continuous Data Protection and Continuous Remote Replication management and problem resolutions
  • Knowledge of Netbackup environment beneficial
