GoAhead Solutions has a great opportunity in New York, NY for a Sr. Software Engineer. This would be a six month contract to start out.
Job Description:
This position entails launching a website driven by Editorial focused on visualizing relationships derived from multiple data points. The project is currently underway and requires help to bring the site to launch. The right candidate will be comfortable jumping in to the existing code, studying the system, and implementing changes. This position will have end-to-end involvement in the system from interfacing with journalists on requirements, to designing and implementing changes to the software and architecture, through to assisting with the deployment of components. Work hours are primarily NYC business hours, however, this is a global company. Some flexibility will be required to attend phone calls with colleagues in Europe and/or Asia or assist with production support out of hours.
Qualifications / Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent required.
-5+ years’ development experience.
-Strong experience using a Java, Tomcat, MySQL, Linux stack required.
-Experience with Hibernate, C3PO, SOLR, JQuery, SVN desirable.
-Experience with Tornado Web Server, JIRA a plus.
-Ability to work with an off-shore development team is a must.
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills enabling comprehension of complex business and product issues.
-Ability to meet deadlines, goals and objectives within time line.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Flexible, proactive, quick learner, and possess strong team attitude.
