Electronics Assembly Technician

An Electronics technician is required in the Sensor and Electronics Development Department to cover the additional workflow resulting from the need to build prototype tools for customer testing. The role will suit someone with experience of working in a small team to put together prototype electronic systems using a variety of drawings and verbal instructions from an engineer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reading and working to wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams, assembly drawings and bill of materials.
  • Wiring up the prototype tools to local best practise
  • Assembling small numbers of circuit boards (SMT & Through hole)
  • Pulling together information from drawings, verbal instructions
  • Marking up documents and feeding back corrections
  • Ensuring best practises are maintained in the assembly
  • Continuity checking of wiring against documentation
  • Assisting with the testing where required.
  • Ordering parts using local stores as well as online from RS and Farnell.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven relative experience working in an manufacturing/R&D environment
  • PC Literate
  • Ability to communicate with Engineers on a technical level.
  • Must possess all the necessary work and residency permits to work in the UK.
  • Ability to work with mechanical and electrical drawings.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Experience working in a prototyping environment
  • Ability to use computer packages to review electrical and simple mechanical designs.
  • Ability to prioritise work to meet the agreed deadlines
