My client is looking for a software configuration engineer for a 6 month contract based in Dublin

Job Purpose:

Logistical management of software solution delivery for one or more business systems including demand prioritisation, work scheduling and resource allocation, and solution delivery scheduling, for both project and support activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coordination of day to day prioritisation of work, resource scheduling and work allocation, and sequencing of solution implementation
  • Implement and run a governance framework that decides priorities, plans and schedules in consultation with internal teams and business unit representatives
  • Oversee software delivery processes to ensure compliance with corporate and regional IT delivery controls and standards
  • Manage software release planning and liaise with project teams to implement appropriate code management strategies
  • Liaise with IT services providers in Dublin, London and New York to schedule support for integrated systems
  • Report release progress, status and plans weekly to management
  • Build and maintain constructive working relationships with technology delivery resource in partner organisations
  • Ensure appropriate release control procedures and processes exist for the systems in question, and that these are being complied with.
  • Coordinate documents relating to software releases, and manage change control for same
  • Continually identify opportunities for process improvement and initiate work to do so where cost benefit justified

Skills/Competencies Required:

  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to influence in an international context
  • Excellent organization and planning skills, ability to analyze and solve problems often involving cross functional teams having only a problem specific lifetime
  • Hands on working knowledge of development life cycle in highly integrated large scale Client Server and web based environments
  • High levels of commitment and energy combined with the ability to lead people, and the ability to influence outcomes
  • Clients facing skills including consulting skills, facilitation skills, relationship management, and client reporting
  • Aptitude for process and methods particularly as regards work allocation and resource scheduling
  • Project and change management skills
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude toward change.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years at Development Team Lead level working in large scale IT projects, preferably involving systems integration in Client Server and/or web based technology environments
  • Full project life cycle experience is required
  • Primary or Secondary degree in a related technical discipline, eg Computer Science
  • Prior experience in an International environment necessary
  • Working knowledge of General Insurance or Financial Services preferable
  • Process and workflow experience is an advantage
