My client is looking for a senior software configuration engineer for a 6 month daily rate contract based in Dublin

Primary Objectives/Responsibilities:

  • Working within the Configuration Management Group, the Software Configuration Engineer's primary responsibilities include:
  • Execution, delivery and storage of releases to specification, in a controlled and timely manner.
  • Installation and management of controlled environments
  • Assisting Production Support and project teams with installation of uncontrolled environments
  • Adherence to release processes and their continuous improvement.
  • Adherence to, and implementation of Audit requirements
  • Maintenance of the releases system and any related tools.
  • 2nd tier end user support
  • Evaluation of new technologies for use in the release process and related areas within the SDLC. Development and implementation of same when required.
  • Meet and maintain software quality standards
  • Maintain and evidence SDLC controls for Internal and Sarbanes Oxley Audit

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Third Level Education
  • English fluency essential, with strong documentation skills
  • Well organised with strong analytic and decision making skills
  • Self-motivated, demonstrating initiative and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communicator with a positive attitude towards change
  • Insurance or financial services background desirable not essential
  • Experience in the support of production systems and new system deployments
  • Excellent Knowledge of SDLC, version/source control and change management, gained while working in a SCM, development or infrastructure role in a Client Server/Web Environment.
  • Over 3 years experience working in a development or technical support role
  • Broad experience across LAN Administration, Junior DBA and Configuration Management and Development preferred
  • Demonstrated experience of the following:
    OS: Windows 2K3/2K8 (Standard/Enterprise), Windows XP, Citrix (XenApp 4.5)
  • DEVELOPMENT: VB (5, 6 or Script), HTML, ASP, XML, SQL, DOS Scripting
  • PRODUCTIVITY: MS Office, MS Project
  • SDLC: Knowledge of Version Control and Incident Management systems. ITIL (preferred)
  • AUDIT: Maintaining and evidencing SDLC controls for Sarbanes Oxley and Internal Audit
  • OTHER: Java Application Servers, Directory Services
