An Automotive client based in Buckinghamshire is looking for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer. This will be for an initial 6 month contract.
Role:
Design, development, and evaluation testing of automotive electronics hardware for instrument clusters, body electronics modules and smart power distribution units:
* Design & develop electronics hardware for clusters, body control and smart J/Bs with focus on cost efficiency and design for manufacturing
* Evaluate chosen design directions and confirm their suitability
* Preparing and issuing of documentation of the electronics hardware design, evaluation testing, release, etc.
* Discuss electronics hardware design strategies, procedures and solutions with customer.
* Interface with component suppliers to assure cost efficient and high quality product performance
Skills and Experience:
Minimum:
* Design responsibility for a minimum of 3 Hardware Electronic developments from concept through to mass production.
* Design Responsibility for a minimum of 1 Hardware Electronic developments in either Automotive Instrument Cluster design or body electronics design, from concept through to mass production.
* Experience with in automotive industry.
* Very good Knowledge of electronics components market cost levels (design to cost)
* Good knowledge with hardware design tools for schematics capture and simulation (preferably ORCAD Capture and PSPICE).
* Knowledge in the EMC field, especially best layout practice for EMC compliance.
* Knowledge of thermal management of power electronic devices at PCB level.
* Good understanding of electronics manufacturing (design for manufacturing, design for testing)
Preferably:
* Good knowledge of PCB layout (Cadence Allegro Layout preferred)
* Microprocessor for Embedded applications
* Knowledge of LCD and display technologies
* Knowledge of PCB, Smart MOSFET and LED technologies
* Knowledge of communication protocols for the automotive market (eg CAN, J1850, LIN etc).
