Science Advisor

The Science advisor role involves two distinct functions. The first function of the role is initiating and managing the delivery of high risk, "cutting edge" or innovative projects in applied scientific and engineering research. The second function is to provide advice on a broad range of scientific, engineering and technology issues to internal customers. The role requires a sound scientific, engineering or technological background, and experience of conducting research is highly desirable. The ability to communicate scientific ideas to those without a scientific background is essential.

Job Description:

1.Providing science and technology advice to internal customers.
2.Identifying novel scientific or technological solutions to hard problems.
3.Managing the delivery of projects that are high risk or address hard problems.
4.Apply scientific method to test and trial proof-of-concept demonstrators.
5.Working to pull through research projects to the development process.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

*A strong background in a relevant scientific discipline, ideally at Ph.D. or post-doctoral level (essential).
*Project management experience (essential).
*Exposure to a broad range of scientific and engineering disciplines (desirable).

Personal Qualities/Skills:

*An ability to challenge scientific and technology ideas constructively (essential).
*Ability to identify novel scientific or technological solutions (essential).
*Excellent written and oral communication skills (essential).

This role requires DV clearance. Candidates without a current clearance must be willing to undergo the vetting process.
