Our high-visibility client's LAN Access Division develops network software and hardware that forms part of the client's Gigabit and 10 GbE line of networking connections. This project will involve testing these networking products in Virtualization operating systems such as VMware vSphere (ESX), XEN, KVM, or Microsoft Hyper-V.

OVERVIEW:

Testing will be performed in the client lab and will mostly focus on software (networking drivers) validation through a combination of manual procedures and automated scripts. The main tasks consist of executing tests according to plan and recording all the results. The responsibilities also include development of new tests, ad-hoc validation and defect characterization and verification. For procedures that are manual, new testing scripts will be developed and maintained along with existing automation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a production network environment, on a support line for a networking products such as Network Adapters, Switches, Routers, or equivalent training in a program related to Network Engineering
  • Seasoned Linux administration skills, versatile in console commands and Scripting (PERL, BASH, etc.)
  • Solid TCP/IP and Layer 2 networking knowledge and understanding of VLAN
  • Hands-on expertise in managing enterprise networks and configuring equipment (Switches, Routers)
  • Experience with VMware vSphere (ESX) and open source virtualization (XEN, KVM) installation, configuration, and virtual infrastructure administration
  • Enthusiastic and flexible, with a positive attitude and very inquisitive mindset
  • Familiarity with validation processes and methodologies
  • Effective written communication skills at a near-collegiate level

Additional Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with Windows PowerShell and/or VMware PowerCLI
  • Virtualization enthusiast
  • Certified Professional.
  • Knowledge of network storage technologies (iSCSI, FCoE)
