Systems Programmer -
6 month contract
Columbia, SC
The Mainframe Systems Programmer will provide engineering and administration support for IBM Z/OS v1.11 Mainframe environment. This includes: installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems and multiple third-party products for the Mainframe (CA, ChicagoSoft, ASG, etc). The Systems Programmer will perform high-level systems analysis, evaluation, integration, documentation and implementation of Mainframe operating systems and related products and applications. Regular health checks, reporting of metrics to determine and improve the user experience, and tuning/optimizing systems for maximum performance and high availability is required. Additional duties will include resolving and documenting trouble tickets and creating or updating system documentation along with scheduling installations and upgrades in accordance with IT policies and procedures will also be required. This position shall provide on-site support Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time, and on-call support for all other hours and days outside of this timeframe.
Requirements -
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and at least 5 years of experience as a Systems Programmer in a Z/OS environment, preferably at version 1.11 or above.
- Experience with CA products such as Librarian, Opera, Scheduler, Top Secret, and VTape.
- Demonstrated experience working with a multi-site configuration for high availability and/or failover.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information technology industry trends and emerging technologies is required.
- Successful candidate should have the ability to identify, solve, and document complex technical problems and present excellent oral and written communication skills.
