Our client is developing a JAVA based platform for one of the most popular models of cars on the market. The unit sits on the head unit of the car and allows your phone to communicate with the head unit. This company has won awards for this product and now they are about to launch into the electric car arena.

We are looking for a Database Developer who is smart and forward thinking. You must be able to communicate well. A few of the companies that are working with us right now are Open Table, Pandora, and Inrix.

OVERVIEW:

  • Prepares and maintains functional and software design and development documentation.
  • Designs and develop complex SQL logic and code with assistance of business expert to implement defined functionality.
  • Develops and maintains unit test plans and performs unit tests on developed code.
  • Follows coding standardsand/or style of existing code where appropriate.
  • Interacts with customer when necessary to solicit requirements
  • Is enthusiastic to work with others but has the ability to learn and work independently.
  • Develops within Oracle 10g/11g and Postgres 8.2 or above.
  • Mentors co-workers and continued education within Oracle/Postgres and job related technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5 or more years of experience as a database developer or DBA designing, developing, debugging, and tuning database applications and reports
  • At least 2 years of Oracle database and report development
  • At least 1 year of Postgres database and report development experience
  • Must understand scoping rules for packages, procedures, and functions
  • Must understand role based security within the database as well as at the OS level
  • Experience working with Oracle Standard Edition environment
  • Must have experience with one or more SQL development tools such as SQL Developer or Toad and must be able to function from the command line/SQL plus prompt
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and procedural SQL within Oracle and Postgres
  • Must have a solid understanding of transaction management
  • Must have a solid understanding of interaction between SQL scripts, OS Shell Scripts in both Windows and UNIX
  • Must have a solid understanding of table and index structures including physical partitioning with and without specific database partitioning options
  • OLTP experience and database application design, development, debugging, and tuning
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good UNIX/Linux and PC skills required, including use of:
    • 1 or more of the UNIX/Linux Shell Scripting languages (sh, ksh, csh, bash, etc.)
    • ssh, scp, sftp, tar, SED, grep, AWK, Perl, vi, emacs, cron, at
    • Subversion (SVN) and interfaces to it through either the command line or tools such as Jenkins, Tortise SVN, Eclipse
    • Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/Visio/Access)
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Good understanding of configuration management, change management, and version control

Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of XML and HTML
  • Experience with XML DB
  • Knowledge of OLTP environments
  • Experience developing database applications within Oracle RAC and Oracle Streams environments
  • Experience with database replication
  • Postgres configuration and tuning
  • Datawarehouse design, development, and reporting
