VB6 and SQL Developer - 6 month contract
The Development role encompasses both project and small enhancement work in all areas of my clients systems.
The role requires a very good understanding of SQL and VB6.
The Developer would be responsible for Design, Coding and testing complex components of software.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gain familiarity within the key areas of core systems and their relationships to the other system areas.
- Design and Development of software components.
- Test system components to quality and time constraints
- Perform code walkthroughs of other team members' code
- Perform system testing in conjunction with other members of the team
- Complete test documentation and implementation documentation as appropriate
- Comply with and adhere to the documented quality standards and methods for the development of applications
- Support implementation and provide post implementation support
- Understands and applies the Software Development Life Cycle
- Liaise with relevant user Departments with regards to requirements and Test Results.
- Support business continuity activities as required by
Essential Experience/Skills
- Computer Science Degree. (Exceptions may be made where relevant experience compensates and in-depth experience demonstrated)
- Experienced with SQL database programming (eg Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle) (eg 3+ years within software development environment)
- Experience of developing in Visual Basic 6
