Role Description: Systems Engineer

Introduction

The role is that of Systems Engineer in the Nodnett project team, which works as prime contractor providing a major communication system for the Norwegian Government known as the Nodnett Project.

The Communication System consists of a Two Way Radio System based on the TETRA Standard, which is for the operational benefit of the Police, Fire, and Health.

The specific details of the job requirements are as described below.

Job Title - Systems Engineer

Reports to - Nodnett Test & Acceptance' Engineering Manager

Work Locations - Will be at the Nodnett Project Office in Oslo (Norway) or in combination with one of Motorola's offices in EMEA (Basingstoke, Copenhagen)

Working Hours - Typically 37.5 hours a week (Monday to Friday)

Language - Fluency in English. Norwegian would be a distinct advantage.

Travel - If not based in Oslo, frequent travel to Oslo, Norway will be necessary to successfully perform the required tasks and responsibility. Travel to other European destinations will be necessary regardless of the home location.

General Job Responsibilities:

  • Test Case Authoring - Work with the Test & Acceptance team to produce test cases that will be run to demonstrate compliance of the delivered Public Safety Network (PSN) solution to the customer's contractual requirements. The high level overview of the task is:
  • Analyse the customer's contractual requirements and write test cases that will demonstrate the requirements.
  • Dry-run the test cases on a reference system.
  • Initiate and participate in test case review meetings with the customer to gain approval of the test cases.
  • Run the test cases for formal customer witnessed testing.
  • Populate the Requirements Management database with all information related to test case work package.
  • Ensure that the System Test work-packages are fulfilled on time, to specification and to the customer's satisfaction.
  • Generate various reports on a regular basis as agreed with the Test & Acceptance team.
  • Self-management of assigned tasks to meet required project milestone.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required.

Specific Knowledge/Skills:

  • Deep understanding of TETRA/Dimetra.
  • Good understanding of all technical aspects of Public Safety Networks.
  • Good understanding of Test & Acceptance methodologies and processes.
  • Experience of developing, testing and executing test cases.
  • Experience in leading customer-facing scope of work' negotiations related to T&A activities.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Fluent English speaker.
