As the Sr. Microstrategy Architect, you will be responsible for the Microstrategy design patterns & architecture that are required to support the overall technology strategy within the company. You will evaluate functional and technical business requirements and be able to transform those requirements into Microstrategy solutions (and associated ETL/data models) that efficiently enable expected application, reporting & analytic capabilities to support the business & strategic initiatives of the enterprise. The Microstrategy design patterns designed and built must be highly-performing, which requires deep knowledge of Microstrategy product suite and applicable ETL & database management systems. You will analyze, document and promote standards and patterns that represent the established reporting, analysis & deep analytics architectural goals. Individuals in this role are also responsible for researching, demonstrating and providing guidance on emerging and well-trusted Microstrategy related techniques and industry trends as well as maintaining expert knowledge of internal and external-facing systems. To be successful in this role one must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role requires strong communication skills with Microstrategy developers, engineering team members, ETL developers, Data Architects, operations support staff and business contacts. In addition, you must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide thought leadership and hands-on involvement in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of Microstrategy design artifacts.
  • Work with the development and other architecture teams to establish Microstrategy Architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Maintain broad and deep level knowledge of Microstrategy techniques and methodologies.
  • Participate in development of high-level estimates in support of business case development.
  • Working with EDSS architecture leadership, govern the implementation of Core Metrics & Business Use-case specific Metrics within Microstrategy.
  • Lead the Microstrategy development team towards higher re-use & consistent definitions of Metrics.
  • Ensure that architecture patterns for the implementation of business rules are consistently followed.
  • Develop and own the Microstrategy roadmap to support the enterprise's reporting, analysis & deep analytics capabilities.
  • Help govern the Microstrategy technical architecture & licensing, working in conjunction with the Operations & Support teams.
  • Define and evangelize best practice design and Microstrategy methodologies.
  • Perform architecture reviews and own Microstrategy related decisioning within the Data Architecture Review Board (DARB) process.
  • When necessary, serve as an escalation point for problem solving and troubleshooting of Microstrategy & related architecture issues, responding quickly and effectively to production issues and taking accountability for seeing those issues through resolution.
  • Provide educational/mentoring resources to Microstrategy teams and others.
  • Bring Enterprise Architecture knowledge into project teams while exposing project-related architectural issues to the architecture team. Provide educational/mentoring resources to technical teams.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted technical advisor with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other responsibilities as required to support the company's growth.
    Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in Microstrategy architecture.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in designing and building Microstrategy solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of Data Warehousing architectures, techniques, and methodologies; including Start Schemas, Snowflake Schemas, Slowly Changing Dimensions, and Aggregation Techniques.
  • Working understanding of advanced SQL techniques, including analytic (window) functions.
  • Working understanding of relational database platforms; specifically Oracle and Netezza.
  • Working understanding of relational database performance structures and techniques; specifically indexing (including bitmap), materialized views, and partitioning.
  • The senior role means an increased level of autonomy is expected as well as expanded/multi-discipline skills are acquired and demonstrated and judgment and decision making are more critical skills, and one would be expected to handle and seek out more complex challenges, assignments, and initiatives.
  • Minimum 10+ years of IT delivery experience, especially in the full development life cycle of Applications and/or Data Warehousing solutions in a production environment.
