Job Description:
Client Connectivity Engineer

The Client Connectivity Engineer will provide client relationship management, project management and consultative technical expertise to internal and external clients as it relates to a variety of external business partner client and vendor connections and applications. Duties will require knowledge and skill sets across networking technologies and components. This position will interact with regional IS associates, Telecom Engineering, other Technology Services Delivery units, and Client support staff.

Duties will include:
  • LAN/WAN systems installation, administration, and maintenance, with some design.
  • Identification and resolution of network problems including routing, connectivity, and application performance issues.
  • LAN/WAN analysis using network management systems and tools.
  • Wireless LAN connectivity, and Rogue wireless device detection and remediation
  • Problem and Change Management.
  • Production systems implementation.
  • Disaster Recovery plan execution.
  • Support for network integrations, regional networking initiatives, and office moves & upgrades.
  • Facilitate service and support from service providers, third party vendors, and third level technical support.
  • Deliver on and/or support client and vendor contractual/SLA agreements.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance whenever it is needed.

    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field or the equivalent in training and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years supporting networking services to include production and technical support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are necessary.
  • Highly organized, structured, and process oriented; team building skills a plus
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Network certifications in Cisco and/or Nortel networking a plus

    Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to collaborate with internal and external business/technical teams.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN & application performance problems to resolution in multitasking environment.
  • Security policies knowledge
  • Hands on experience in the following:
    o equipment installation and configuration of layer 2 & 3 Switches and Routers.
    o remote network service and support.
    o network monitoring/diagnostic equipment.
    o interpretation of packet captures.
    o network documentation tools such as Visio a plus.
    o command line interfaces for configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of VOIP, and Convergence Technologies
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, OSPF, RIP, HSRP, and VRRP.
  • Able to interpret trace route command results
    o Validate devices in path of trace
    o Identify any latency between devices in trace path
    o Determine after trace ends before reaching destination which group should be contacted for the respective device
    o Identify responsible groups in the network for forwarding problems
