My client is currently looking for a Wintel consultant to join their team in Amsterdam.
IT Infrastructure is our client International's operational IT department, which looks after business IT processes and the worldwide IT network. They have a global responsibility but also deliver service and support locally through regional centres in various locations worldwide.
The Data Centre Technical Services (DCTS) Windows Server team is responsible for providing 24x7x365 support to more than 1,300 Windows application.
Your function
You will contribute to the DCTS Windows Server team's key functions and responsibilities, which include:
*Providing production support 8am-8pm on a shift basis;
*Providing overnight on-call support on a rota basis;
*Maintaining full documentation of systems, fault resolutions, and incident investigations;
*Testing new software releases, patches and upgrades;
*Liaising with other technical support teams (UNIX, DBA, development, etc.);
*Liaising with development groups to ensure standards are adhered to.
Your profile
In general you need to be a good communicator, spoken and written, particularly in English and ideally also Dutch. You have a good feeling of co-operation and helpfulness.
You are able to look at the 'big picture' when dealing with systems to be able to see the impact of your actions on the whole environment. Here it is also important that you have good analytical and investigative skills to be able to understand and deal with incidents and problems with a minimum of issue and a maximum of clarity.
You are always looking for improvements on used techniques en procedures.
We would also expect you to have the following technical skills:
Essential skills:
*In-depth knowledge of complex Windows Server environments;
*Several years' experience in a large environment (>500 Servers);
*MCSE level qualifications on Server 2003 and/or MCITP Server 2008.
*HP ProLiant hardware
*HP SIM
Desirable skills:
*Experience with MS SCOM and MS SCCM
*Experience with VB Scripting/Powershell
*Experience with server virtualisation (Hyper-V)
*Good understanding of SAN and other enterprise storage technologies;
*Good understanding of security standards and best practices;
*Experience of ensuring conformity to regulatory compliance standards (SOX etc);
*Capacity and performance monitoring/management;
*Good understanding of disaster recovery and BCP techniques;
*Experience of working in an international banking environment;
*Understanding of investment banking and financial markets;
*Understanding of Windows-related application technologies, such as ASP.NET.
