Description

The Construction Engineer's role will be to manage capital project execution to ensure that the projects are completed in safe, timely, cost effective and high quality manner.

Responsibilities
  • Manage Contracts after award through to field completion
  • In some case may bid small projects and/or programs
  • Manage a Team of Field Engineers and Techs in reporting work status including costs.
  • Manage Field and Contract Change orders
  • Coordinate with Work and Program Management regarding construction schedules.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and analytical skills surrounding our standards and general orders.
  • Effectively manage engineering staff to support contract crews in achieving optimum productivity and attainment of unit costs including scheduling jobs to minimize movement, assuring material is on time, on site with correct quantities.
  • May work with service planning, engineering planning and project services, program managers, in the development of project scopes, schedules and budget. Monitor projects for cost and schedule.
  • Identify and communicate issues to engineering and/or project services prior to start of construction and ongoing throughout. Participating in walk downs and review all change orders
  • Articulate compliance requirements and impact on the business to employees.
  • Understand the different priorities surrounding our work and when and how required resources are moved to address these priorities.
  • Monitor workload, resources and employee skill levels and put appropriate plans in place to address deficiencies.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of our financial structure including capital vs. expense, standard rates, productive capacity factor and non-labor pcc costs and how to manage these to success.
  • Manage contracting efforts to achieve the best value and product.

    Requirements
    Minimum:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and analytical skills surrounding Contract Management.
  • 3 or more years of field construction experience supporting refinery or gas processing (natural gas, ethane recovery, sulfur, hydrocarbon, nitrogen rejection, gas treating, etc...) EPC projects
  • Experience with reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and resource-loaded schedules.
  • DESIRED:

  • Broad understanding of each major construction discipline, ie, Piping, Equipment, Process, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, & Electrical
  • Must be capable of reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and resource-loaded schedules
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and analytical skills surrounding our standards and general orders.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of our financial structure including capital vs. expense, standard rates, productive capacity factor and non-labor costs and how to manage these to success.
