The Project Engineering Manager (PEM) is a position that will have total responsibility for the Engineering deliverables and Technical Compliance in an EPC Project. A high degree of importance is placed on the aspects of Management and co-ordination of engineering activities necessary to complete a Subsea EPC Project. It will require an excellent knowledge of change management, interface control and the process's to drive excellence within the engineering function.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Developing the overall Engineering schedule
  • Overall responsible for the execution and delivery of the Engineering scope from all CoE's according to the Engineering plan and budget
  • Ensuring all engineering procedures are in place in the Project and rolled out
  • Defining Project specific procedures to meet contractual requirements. Ensuring that all Technical Assurance activities are defined and planned for as per Contract
  • Develop and manage the overall material requirements
  • Responsible for all Project Engineering reporting. Manage technical risks based on risk register supplied by SEM
  • Responsible for ensuring an internal and external interface system is in place which meets contractual requirements
  • Developing Internal & External Interface Registers
  • Responsible for implementing the Engineering Change Control system and ensuring compliance within Engineering.
  • Responsible for ensuring Technical Compliance of the equipment to relevant Laws, Rules, Regulations, Codes & standards.
  • Follow up of technical qualification programs and ensuring the designs are aligned with the results.
  • EPC Engineering representative towards EPC and the Client
  • Identify customer's requirement and bring effective solutions
  • Attend customer meetings and EPC meetings
  • Lead project design activities and technical decisions
  • Ensure the proper understanding of technical customer needs inside project Engineering organization
  • Coordinate all engineering work in the CoE's
  • Providing the technical requirements for SIT

Managerial skills:

Ability to lead a team and manage technical personnel across all disciplines. Experienced in Project start up, execution and close out of medium - large scale subsea EPC projects. Strong problem solving abilities. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Strong organizational skills. Prior experience in system delivery of subsea systems.

Technical Skills:

Strong systems and interface engineering skills based upon previous experience of systems engineering and SIT within Subsea Projects. It is required that the person has detailed understanding of subsea product design basis/verification methods/Qualification technology/FEED studies/Tender work and general product knowledge gained through significant number of years of industrial experience. The skills will include capabilities to participate in Risk Assessment, HAZOP and Interface Engineering within the boundaries of product standards. It is also required that the person has knowledge and understanding of other related systems engineering skills such as Factory Acceptance Procedures, EFAT and SIT as well as Safety and Environmental Controls and a working knowledge of Quality standards, particularly ISO 9001.

Demonstrate a readiness to make decisions, take the initiative and originate action. He/she should also have a clear understanding of his/her objectives relative to the project requirements and to facilitate delivery of those objectives as planned.
