Description

Senior Electrical Designer Opportunity at STERIS Corporation

SUMMARY

Performs defined project assignments with directions and guidance from supervisor. Candidate must be able to solve technical problems by applying knowledge of design principles to accomplish a variety of technical electrical/electronic assignments.

Products are developed to meet FDA requirements. Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of typical design controls for research and development environments.

  ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Conducts research on electronic sub assembly and harness design options and collaborate with lead engineers as required

Designs electrical harnesses and simple electronic subassemblies under engineer’s supervision

Generates multi-layer PCB designs of simple PCBAs (e.g, low voltage regulator PCB assembly, simple I/O boards)

Designs keypad schematics and keypad overlays in AutoCAD or similar tools)

Develops design sketches, electrical schematics, and assembly drawings, panel layouts and BOMs for a variety of components, electromechanical sub-assemblies, test fixtures, or equipment

Designs electrical enclosures comprised of sheet metal, plastic and other materials using PRO/E

Designs are cable routing paths and termination strategies for control panel and enclosure designs including checking for interferences

Determines proper dimensions and geometric tolerances for all designs

Generates test reports, component specification drawings and status reports as required.

Interacts with vendors, suppliers, and consultants to insure engineering models and prototype parts comply with component drawings and design specifications

Assists with preparation test plans and reports for R&D projects

Assists in or builds test systems and simulators from assembly drawings and electrical schematics

Assists with design qualification testing

Performs minor repairs on PCBAs, harnesses and electromechanical assemblies

Perform electrical component selection and component substitution with minimal supervision

Other designer duties as assigned
