UAT Test Lead
Technical Experience:
- Experience with SAP core modules is desired. If they have 1 or 2 of the SAP modules, they will likely be able to pick up the other ones quickly.
- SAP technical knowledge is better than SAP testing experience
- Although this person will not be doing the testing themselves, they will need to be able to write end to end test scripts
- Background in consumer electronics isn't important but is a plus, mobile device testing nice to see
- Project life cycle knowledge is important
- Need to have cutover experience and a lot of test coordination/facilitation experience
Soft Skills:
- Must be able to work under very little directly/much ambiguity
- Many aspects of the project will not be uncovered to them - will be working on black projects where much about the product will be unknown to them. There will be more disclosure later on.
- Need to be ok with being managed remotely
- Need to feel confident in doing things on their own - bc of the time difference, they won't always be able to ask questions of CA Mgr.
- Must be comfortable with longer work days (60 hrs/week)
- Must be comfortable with flex working schedule - overlapping calls with USA office
- May need to work weekends and odd hours, may need to start their day later
- Need to be able to juggle multiple overlapping projects at once
- Need to be thick skinned as they will be dealing with many different personalities
Culture:
- This group supports operations and sales (end to end) from planning to allocation to pricing to order management and fulfillment
- There are 12 people on this team right now - all of them sit in CA, USA.
- The UAT Test Lead will be an extension of their team - will be the only team member in Cork
- Other cross functional teams that this person will be working with will vary in size, from 22-50 people (phase 1 will have 50 people, and team size will decline as they move through phases).
- Group is mixed with CEs and FTEs
More about the role:
- Will be more of a facilitation and coordination role
- They will be coordinating the testing over all groups from end to end
- This person won't have any direct reports, however, it will be extremely important for this person to be able to build rapport and have the ability to influence & gain buy-in from the other Lead UAT Testers that they will be interfacing with, as it will be this person's responsibility to make sure that deadlines are met by each individual group
- Because they don't have direct reports, they have no control over the other teams, however, this person will be accountable if deadlines aren't met/things aren't done correctly
- Will be this person's responsibility to string everything together amongst the different testing teams (ex: Online store, Finance, Ops team, etc) - make sure everything is cohesive and consistent along the different groups
- Will be responsible for overall strategy and management of testing
- Will not be doing any testing themselves. Testing will be done by business testers.
