Description
In your role as Mainframe Performance Engineer you fulfil the following duties:
- You participates in design and technical architecture reviews of new applications to determine the most-appropriate and achievable solution, taking into consideration the business requirements.
- Your focus is mainly on performance, scalability, availability, operability, disaster recovery and running costs.
- You participate in technical discussions to incorporate performance features at design, development and test stages.
- You ensure that the acceptance criteria related to capacity and performance are well defined and agreed up-front.
- You participate to performance testing, collect and analyse the appropriate technical metrics, and publish the results in a formalised capacity and performance report.
- In case the test results highlight an issue, you explore and identify the source of the issue and recommends corrective actions.
- At the end you are able to produce a clear recommendation regarding the acceptance of the changes into production.
- You develop capacity models for new or existing applications.
- You gather business, services and platforms data as well as forecasts, and incorporates them into capacity models.
- You help to establish realistic IT budgets for the IT infrastructure, and develop cost-benefit analysis and cost estimates.
Profile:
- You are an expert in primarily IBM Mainframe systems and subsystems (z/OS, DB2, MQSeries, CICS, PL/I,...)
- You have strong experience in performance analysis on IBM Mainframe (systems, subsystems and applications)
- You are team oriented and willing to share knowledge with your colleagues
- You have good communication and presentation skills (both verbal and in writing).
As a plus
- You are familiar with the capacity management process and usage of a capacity management Datawarehouse (MICS, TDS, TDW, SAS ITRM)
- You are familiar with IBM Mainframe monitoring tools (Tivoli, RMF, APA)
- You have working experience in the Banking industry
