Description
Our client is a large Telecommunications Company looking to urgently recruit a Senior Unix Support Engineer to join their team. This is a contract position located in Dublin.
Role:
- To provide a highly competent level of support expertise for one or more components/platforms of the Internet Services Infrastructure and software, ensuring efficient operation, performance and integrity of infrastructure and software, to meet service levels of both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities:
- Documentation is up to date and effective
- Service improvements identified and implemented
- Management informed of key service data and exceptions
- No Capacity or performance management issues
- Accurate asset management information
- Technical status of supported systems is accurately recorded
- Experience & knowledge to operate in more than 1-sub domain
- Work closely with strategic vendors
Technical Skills:
- ISP services and Internet technologies and protocols
- Industry-standard Operating Systems including the major flavours of Unix (Solaris, HPUX, AIX, FreeBSD, Linux) and Windows
- Internet services programming languages
- Scripting in Unix and Windows
- Industry-standard RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MySQL)
- Storage and backup systems
- ITIL-based processes to include Incident, Problem, Change and Configuration Management
