Link Technologies is currently seeking a Network Engineer for a great contract opportunity in Las Vegas, NV.
Summary:
The Wi Fi Network Engineer is a member of the Data Network team located in Las Vegas NV supporting Mobilitie Wi-Fi roll out to the client site. This position is responsible for the daily activities which ensure that the client's Wi-Fi roll out is smoothly implemented and that the network infrastructure is maintained to industry best practices standards.
This position will report to the Mobility Project Manager. The primary role will be to provide field support services for installing Cisco network hardware, copper and fiber infrastructure implementation and logistics for moving equipment into its permanent location. The candidate will interact with the customer and vendors as well as providing updates to their local management.
The candidate will be responsible for documenting all of these actions in the field related to task assignments. This candidate must bring a passion for data networking field technician along with the ability to be on their own and working under very strict rules.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Capable of implementing Cisco LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi infrastructure and services
- Knowledgeable in Cisco data network services
- Knowledgeable in telecom equipment operations and configuration.
- Knowledgeable in hospitality systems fundamentals and operations
- Knowledgeable in Cisco wireless networking including 802.11a/b/g/n 2.2 and5.0 MHz
- Knowledgeable in analytic tools that support the wireless operation.
- Knowledgeable in change management process and documentation
- Maintains flexibility to handle scheduled work and unanticipated situations or requirements.
- Participates in 24x7 on-call onsite implementations
- Supports and contributes to a positive, customer service-oriented work atmosphere with coworkers, clients and guests.
- Understands and supports project time line objectives, and contributes to successful ongoing team performance.
Wi-Fi Specific job duties:
- Thoroughly test the RF signal propagation, SSIDs, and channels to validate proper system operation from APs to the application
- Conduct testing and collect RF propagation data sufficient to validate that the coverage design specifications have been met using AirMagnet
- Provide plots/diagrams of actual propagation
- Configure and install, access points, Switches and Routers
- Provide onsite project management feedback for the duration of the project
- Knowledge of Airmagnet would be helpful
Cabling Specific job duties:
- Capable of thoroughly testing cable installations
- Familiar with Ethernet connectivity and ensuring 3rd party installs are done correct
- Can run tests on existing copper and fiber cabling
Education:
Technical certification in telecommunications field. Cisco CCNA or CCNP or equivalent is preferred, but dependent upon knowledge may not be necessary.
Technical Requirements
- Data Network technician experience - 10+ years
- Voice network technician experience would be a plus
- Working knowledge of Cisco Wireless
- Knowledge of data networking including TCIP, UDP, RTP protocols.
- Ability to analyze, design and collaborate multiple layer networks
- Knowledge of multiple networking protocols
- Knowledge of infrastructure and network analyzer
- Network Management Systems knowledge
