ASSISTANT MANAGER - REGULATORY REPORTING/FSA RETURN CONSOLIDATIONS

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and high profile specialised Finance team within a bank in Bristol. You will want become a subject matter expert on Basel 2 and be looking for a long term career in this highly sought after area of financial services.

The role will support the varied Wholesale Banking & Markets (WBM) business which covers a variety of customers including small and medium sized entities, large multi-nationals, other financial institutions as well as other complex products (securitisation and trade).

To succeed in this role you will need to be an agile and insightful thinker who can quickly understand regulations and interpret large volumes of data. The successful applicant will also be keen to shape future reporting processes as a number of new regulatory reporting projects (Basel 3 and COREP) are due to delivered during 2013.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • Good systems skills (familiarity with Excel).
  • Good stakeholder communications.
  • Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Reporting process design and improvement.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • Accounting, Economics, Physics, Maths, Engineering or similarly technical degree.
  • Financial services experience.
  • Studying for accountancy qualifications (part qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • SAP R/3 or other general ledger experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting responsibilities

  • The role will be responsible for the timely consolidation and reporting of FSA returns, to meet Senior Executive and Group reporting requirements while ensuring reporting risks are minimised.
  • Ensure the technical accuracy of all data used from the various financial systems so that effective analysis takes place, taking corrective action where necessary.

The role will be responsible for the following:

  • Production of senior management reporting packs.
  • Provision of analysis and commentary to various stakeholders (Group Finance, other Business Unit Finance teams, Wholesale Risk) on the monthly results.
  • Analytical review of the reporting system results.
  • Monitoring and reviewing of journals, in line with group standards.
  • Reconciliation of the reporting system results, in line with group standards.
  • Documenting monthly key controls via a monthly basis of substantiation.
  • Review of adjustments on the reporting system in line with reporting deadlines

At a quarter end the role will support the production of the following reports:

  • Production of FSA004 return
  • Production of FSA015 return
  • Production of FSA045 return
  • Production of Pillar 3 reporting
  • Preparation of SAP SEM manual journals, in line with GMS 1.
  • Reconciliation of SAP SEM to the reporting system, in line with group standards.
  • Responding to Divisional and Group queries in respect of the above returns.
  • Production of senior management reporting packs.
  • Liaising with Finance Directors (or delegates) to obtain sign off for quarterly returns.
  • Production of analysis of exposure by country for Interim Management Statement.

In addition to the monthly reporting responsibilities, the role will be responsible for:

  • Helping to implement processes to support the new Group Reporting System (GDRS) roll out.
  • Proactively identifying gaps and issues in monthly reporting, and developing and implementing solutions to close these.
  • Helping to assess, implement and test changes to FSA regulatory reporting.
  • Performing controls during the regulatory reporting process.
  • Helping to implement processes to support the Wholesale Risk Systems Program, Consolidated Regulatory Reporting project.
  • Proactively managing the relationship with other areas of Finance and Risk.

This is a superb opportunity to gain a long term contract (with a possible extension) at a leading UK banking group, within a high priority regulatory reporting project. We are looking to submit CVs as soon as possible.
